SAM Hospital was established in the year 1926 as a small dispensary by Hakim Moosie Raza, a graduate of Tibbia College, Lucknow, United Province (Uttar Pradesh). He was recognized by the Board of Indian Medicine, United Provinces. In the year 1965, after Hakim Moosie Raza, his son Dr. Syed Abdullah Muzaffar, nicknamed ‘Babu’, succeeded his father. Dr. S.A. Muzaffar holds a Graduate of Unani Medicine and Surgery (GUMS) degree from Patna College. Following his father’s footsteps, he created some wonderful combinations of English and Unani medicines and soon became famous in the entire area for his inexpensive and good treatments. The common people of Chandauli lovingly and cordially called him Dr. Babua. Dr. Babua’s popularity was such that he was considered the best doctor for children.
Sam Hospital came into its original form in the year 2022 when Dr. Babua’s son Dr. Syed Ghazanfar Imam, along with his father, laid the foundation of the hospital. Dr. Imam holds an MBBS degree from Lala Lajpat Rai Medical College, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, and an MS degree from the famous Sawai Mansingh Medical College, Jaipur, Rajasthan. He has served as a resident doctor in many famous private hospitals of Delhi, as well as in the renowned All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). Today in Sam Hospital, along with Dr. Imam, his wife Dr. Azme Zahra is also working to preserve this heritage which is at least a hundred years old. Dr. Azme Zahra, who has an MBBS and MD degree, has made her unique identity as a gynecologist. Sam Hospital, which is going to complete its golden hundred years in 2026, is not just a hospital but the dream of Hakim Moosie Raza and Dr. Babua, whose aim is to provide the cheapest and best treatment to the general public. सैम हास्पिटल की स्थापना वर्ष 1926 में हकीम मूसी रज़ा के एक छोटे से दवाखाने के रूप में हुई थी। चंदौली तहसील के बिछियां कला ग्राम के निवासी हकीम मूसी रजा यूनाइटेड प्रॉविंस (उत्तर प्रदेश) लखनऊ के तिब्बिया कॉलेज के ग्रेजुएट थे। उन्हें बोर्ड ऑफ़ इंडियन मेडिसिन, यूनाइटेड प्रॉविंस से मान्यता प्राप्त थी। नई दवाईयों, मिश्रणों की खोज और मरीज़ों के प्रति उनकी लगन ने जल्द ही उन्हें आम जनता और तत्कालीन अफसरों के बीच लोकप्रिय बना दिया। चंदौली और उसके आसपास के इलाकों के लोग उन्हें ‘हकीम साहब’ के नाम से जानते थे। वर्ष 1965 हकीम मूसी रज़ा के बाद उनके बेटे डा. सैयद अब्दुल्ला मुज़फ्फ़र जिनका उपनाम ‘बाबू’ था उन्होंने अपने पिता का स्थान लिया। डा. मुज़फ्फ़र पटना कॉलेज से ग्रेजुएट ऑफ़ यूनानी मेडिसिन एंड सर्जरी (जीयूएमएस) डिग्री धारक थे। अपने पिता के नक्शे कदम पर चलते हुए उन्होंने अंग्रेजी और यूनानी दवाईयों के कुछ शानदार कांबिनेशन बनाए और जल्द ही अपने सस्ते और अच्छे इलाज के लिए पूरे इलाके में मशहूर हो गए। चंदौली की आम जनता ने उन्हें प्रेम और सौहार्द से डा. बबुआ नाम से पुकारा। डा. बबुआ की लोकप्रियता का आलम ये रहा कि उन्हें बच्चों का बेस्ट डॉक्टर माना गया।
वर्ष 2022 में सैम हॉस्पिटल अपने वास्तविक स्वरूप में आया जब डा. बबुआ के बेटे डा. सैयद गज़न्फर इमाम ने अपने पिता के साथ मिलकर हॉस्पिटल की नींव रखी। डा. इमाम उत्तर प्रदेश मेरठ के लाला लाजपतराय मेडिकल कॉलेज से एमबीबीएस और राजस्थान जयपुर के प्रसिद्ध सवाई मानसिंह मेडिकल कॉलेज से एमएस की डिग्री प्राप्त हैं। उन्होंने दिल्ली के कई प्रसिद्ध प्राइवेट हॉस्पिटल्स के साथ-साथ देश के नामचीन अखिल भारतीय आयुर्विज्ञान संस्थान, एम्स में बतौर रेजीडेंट डॉक्टर भी सेवाएं दी हैं। आज सैम हॉस्पिटल में डॉ. इमाम के साथ उनकी धर्मपत्नी डा. अज्मे ज़हरा भी कम से कम सौ वर्ष पुरानी इस धरोहर को संजोने का काम कर रही हैं। एमबीबीएस, एमडी डिग्री प्राप्त डा. अज्मे जहरा ने स्त्री प्रसूति रोग विशेषज्ञ के रूप में अपनी विशिष्ट पहचान बनाई है। वर्ष 2026 में अपने स्वर्णिम सौ वर्ष पूरे करने जा रहा सैम हॉस्पिटल केवल एक अस्पताल नहीं हकीम मूसी रज़ा और डा. बबुआ का सपना है जिसका मकसद आम जनता के लिए सबसे सस्ता और सबसे उत्तम इलाज उपलब्ध कराना है। सैम हॉस्पिटल अपने मिशन को लेकर प्रतिबद्ध है।
